Who is Dr Cara?

Dr. Jose Antonio Cara del Rosal is a distinguished Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology specialist with an extensive and varied career, reflecting a deep commitment to medical excellence and patient care.

 

After earning his medical degree from the University of Granada, Dr. Cara pursued specialized training in Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology at the Clínica Universitaria de Navarra, complemented by international stays in Lovaine, London, and Boston.

 

His academic prowess was further highlighted by a Doctorate in Medicine from the University of Navarra, where he received the Apto cum Laude distinction and an Extraordinary Doctorate Award. His commitment to advancing his field is also evidenced by a European Diploma in Hand Surgery from Vienna and a Master’s in Medical Management and Clinical Management from the UNED Instituto Carlos III, along with a title of “University Expert in Forensic Sciences” from UNED.

 

Professionally, Dr. Cara has held various prestigious positions, including a teaching role at the University of Navarra, where he served as an Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology. His clinical expertise was further honed at the Hospital Costa del Sol in Marbella, where he worked as a Specialist Physician in the area from 1993 to 2005 before becoming the Medical Director of the Marbella High Care Clinic and the Head of the Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology Service in 2006. Additionally, he holds a permanent position as a Specialist Physician at the Hospital de la Linea de la Concepción, currently on leave.

 

Beyond his clinical and teaching roles, Dr. Cara is an active contributor to the academic community. He has led over 10 specialty-related courses, delivered more than 15 lectures, and authored over 50 books and book chapters in both Spanish and English, as well as over 70 articles in national and international journals. His research efforts have been recognised with several awards in his field.

 

Dr. Cara is also a committed member of several prestigious scientific societies, including the SECOT, where he has been a member since 1990 and a full member since 1994, the GETOI, the SATO, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the New York Academy of Sciences, the Spanish Society of Hand Surgery (SECMA), and the Spanish Society of Microsurgery. This broad membership underscores his dedication to staying at the forefront of medical advancements and contributing to the ongoing development of orthopaedic surgery and traumatology.
